Nurse education now available regionally

If you’re seeking a career in nursing and you live in South Canterbury, Nelson, Marlborough or the West Coast, you can study for the New Zealand Diploma in Enrolled Nursing through Ara | Te Pūkenga without having to move to Christchurch.

Our blended delivery model enables you to study the diploma primary online, with support from a locally based tutor. It includes five short block courses in Christchurch that you need to attend, but most of your learning is done in your own region, including six clinical placements with your local Te Whatu Ora (DHB) and other health providers.

Your clinical placements give you the chance to gain experience and contacts with health providers and health practitioners in your region, which are very useful once you’ve graduated and you’re ready for employment.

Our blended delivery model has been proven to be successful; we also use it to deliver our Bachelor of Midwifery programme to students around the South Island. So if you’re based in the regions and you want a train to become an Enrolled Nurse without the upheaval of moving to Christchurch, this could be just what you’re looking for.
