Learning Outcomes

  • Apply knowledge of pain science to the assessment and management of nociceptive, inflammatory and pathological pain within the osteopathic setting.
  • Critically evaluate the contribution that biological, psychosocial and cultural factors make to the individual experience of pain using using valid and reliable assessment tools.
  • Critically analyse client/patient needs and preferences to develop evidence informed osteopathy treatment programmes, aimed at modifying pain, promoting tissue healing, improving function and reducing disability.
  • Critically evaluate when to refer clients/patients on to other members of a multi -disciplinary pain management team.
